Dr Victoria Barker is a psychoanalyst who trained at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and the Tavistock Centre in London. She has a private psychoanalytic practice in central Edinburgh.
She is a registered member of the General Medical Council (GMC – 6147185), the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC – 22708) and British Psychoanalytical Society (BPAS - 108299). She is also a member of the European Psychoanalytic Federation (EPF) and International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA).
Research & Publication
Dr Barker has researched, lectured and published on the role of early experiences, adversity and developmental trauma in the experience of mental health and relational difficulties in adulthood.
scope of practice
Dr Barker is a qualified psychiatrist and medical psychotherapist and works as such in the NHS. Her private practice based in Edinburgh is in psychoanalysis and does not include medical or psychiatric treatment.
