Dr Victoria Barker is a psychoanalyst who trained at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and the Tavistock Centre. She is a registered member of the General Medical Council (GMC – 6147185), the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC – 22708) and British Psychoanalytical Society (BPAS - 108299). She is a member of the European Psychoanalytic Federation (EPF) and International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA).

scope of practice

Dr Barker is a qualified psychiatrist and medical psychotherapist and works as such in the NHS. Her private practice based in Edinburgh is in psychoanalysis and does not include medical or psychiatric treatment. 

Research & Publication

Dr Barker has researched and published extensively on the role of early adversity and developmental trauma in the experience of mental health difficulties in adulthood.
